Aliens - Salvation Owner: Mark McDonnell Comment posted on 10/2/2023 I love this page from a pure storytelling perspective. I mean it's Mike's work so obviously it's drawn amazingly well, but how he's moving the story along on this page, so sweet. Congrats! |

Hellboy Wolves of St August Final Page Owner: Brent Lilley Comment posted on 4/26/2023 I still kick myself to this day that I had a chance to pick up two pages from WOSA (I can't recall the other, but one was the giant wolf head with gnashing teeth shot) and passed in favor of the page I'd just picked up at Mike's table. Oh well. This page is amazing! |

Mike Mignola BPRD (Frogs & Monsters) Omnibus 1 cover with Liz Sherman & Abe Sapien Owner: Nick Warmack Comment posted on 1/5/2023 Speaking of that frog. Mike's legendary (at least with me) for his ability to draw realistic animals. Everything in his repetoire has become hyper-stylized in his later years, but I still adore how he draws animals- frogs, wolves, octopus, etc. Great piece, mate! |

Alex Toth- letter discussing Mignola Owner: Nick Warmack Comment posted on 1/5/2023 Just wow! Obviously Mike has laughed all the way to the bank (perhaps not his entire career, but certainly the latter half). Only Toth can tear you down and you feel positively elated for having had a legend like Alex even mention your name. Great stuff mate, thank you. |

Werewolf by Mike Mignola Owner: Anthony F Comment posted on 12/27/2022 True story. At one time while I was still trying to elbow my way into comics in some capacity; as penciler, inker, colorist, etc., I took some time and hand-colored a few pages from WOSA. Like you, I loved that story and the simple yet vastly complex storytelling that Mike was employing. I colored probably 5 pages using mixed media; colored pencil, water color, etc., and once satisifed with the result I took extra care and put them together in presentation folders (as I'd been taught to do in art school) so that hopefully I'd impress the viewer through sheer force of presentation if not actual coloring skill... lol. Fast forward to some SDCC around that time, and I took my pages to Mike to show him the work that I was humbly yet excitedly anxious to get feedback on. He took a look at them and kindly pointed out a few places where he liked my approach, but ultimately he said (and I paraphrase), "boy you really went for every color in the Crayola coloring box!" Little had I absorbed by that point that Mike prefers understated almost washed out colors that in some cases cause his carefully plotted and executed b/w art to recede into the background. Needless to say I didn't get asked on the spot to replace Dave Stewart nor did I shop the work around to anyone else (sadly) to see what nibbles I may have had. Moral of the story; breaking into comics is hard although rewarding work if you can swing it. Larger and perhaps more key moral of the story; never give up. Believe in yourself and keep at it. Eventually someone (perhaps not Mike Mignola, but someone) will see the potential and give you a shot. I sometimes wish I'd kept at it, but alas... bills gotta get paid. All of that said-- and I apologize greatly for using your post as my platform-- great piece buddy! I really like this one. |

B.P.R.D and Hellboy Omnibus #10 Cover Owner: Jason B Comment posted on 11/17/2022 Mike has become the king of the Kirby energy burst effect. The Kirby crackle and burst of light (and appropriately stylized shadow) effect which makes the object nearest the source of light appear almost washed out/faded, with an extreme shadow behind it to help enhance the effect. Sorry for that divergence into trying to describe what I'm seeing. Probabily failing... |

Mike Mignola - Wolverine, The Jungle Advetnure pg 37 Owner: Joshua Ginsberg Comment posted on 10/17/2022 I think the part I like most from your comments, other than detailing how much the page means to you, is your story about loving the comic book so much that you read it to pieces! That's awesome. I am way too ginger and 'precious' with my comics that I would never have even imagined reading something until it fell apart, but I totally love that idea. |

Mignola - Ironwolf page 54 Owner: Simon M. Comment posted on 10/10/2022 Even though the story is impenterable and not easy to follow (for me) Mike's art is some of the best of his career, yes including his Hellboy work. I love this and Fahfard the most of his pre-Hellboy era. Great page! |

Mike Mignola spooky library with color Hellboy sketch Owner: Mike Rice Comment posted on 7/29/2022 Great piece, Mike! I'm curious if you know the origin of the head sketch? It's a rare one for that era where Mike not only drew something, but he also colored it (medium colored pencil?). |

Mignola Werewolf by Aaron Conley Owner: Ken Westmeyer Comment posted on 4/26/2022 Wow... this is awesome! If Mike is paying attention... hire this person! Mike Mignola Sketch 2020 Owner: Harry M Comment posted on 4/4/2022 I love this piece. Seemingly simple, but Mik's work is often layered. I'm sure it was just a fun excuse to put wings on a monkey and give said monkey a pokey stick, but again one never knows. |

Batman Annual #18-Cover 1994-Mike Mignola Owner: Don Emery Comment posted on 3/17/2022 I'll just say it, I miss this version of Mike. The Mike who was still on fire to experiment and incorporate painterly techniques and was meticulously careful in his use of photo reference and who's linework was razor sharp and clear as peels of a church bell on Sunday morning. His work today is still amazing on an entirely different level and in a much different way, but this Mike was cooking with gas and I miss him. |

Hellboy: The Corpse & The Iron Shoes Cover Original Art w/ Colored Print & Issue Owner: Michael “Chad” Cloe Comment posted on 1/3/2022 This cover is an amazing piece of comic book original art history, but I would be incredibly squeamish about putting a comic book against that bristol. Unless there's some kind of archival protection behind the comic who knows what could leak out of it over time and possible stain the bristol board. Not telling you what to do obviously, but something to consider. |

Caveman by Mike Mignola Owner: Justin Ishmael Comment posted on 11/22/2021 It's really interesting to me how as Mike's style has evolved especially in say the last 10-15 years he's bringing this 'broken arm' look to many of his characters where he's not even attempting to approximate real arm/shoulder anatomy anymore. Obviously it looks like the human form, but he's making his bodies look like puppets w/out strings and it's kind of crazy. Anyway, sorry to prattle on. I love this piece! Great stuff. |

1996 Wondercon Cvr. Owner: Hans Kosenkranius Comment posted on 7/9/2021 Obviously removing the color was the right way to go and thank GOD the b/w art survived that process! I'd never heard of 'decoloring' a piece where the colors/dyes/etc. are directly applied over the b/w art and are still able to removed. Fascinating story and thanks for sharing your insights. This is a fun piece and although I'm not overly fond of art where other characters are paired with HB, having Mike illustrate those characters brings the whole together nicely. Awesome artwork! |

Mike Mignola. Jenny Finn #3 cover Owner: Michael Bolerjack Comment posted on 6/15/2021 I love that Mike's artist character in this piece only vaguely resembles the shape of a human. Mostly just a lump with a head on top and bushy beard/hair, but it all just works. If you see where Mike started and the evolution of his style over the course of his career it's been a gradual deconstruction of form. This piece-- although not a prime example perhaps-- just goes to show how far Mike has come (or is it gone?) in deconstructing form until it mashes together in a way that pleases his eye. TBH Jenny Finn wasn't really my cup of tea as far as story, nor has the art held up IMHO, but Mike's contribution to covers (and obviously this TBH cover) are its strongest elements. Great cover! |

Hellboy Promo 1993 Pin-up Owner: D J Comment posted on 4/23/2021 Water marking a piece you simply own but didn't create is a bit odd and takes away from being able to fully enjoy the beauty of Mike's art. I get it, in this hobby we often like to 'mark our territory' but this seems wildly unnecessary. Anyway, cool art. |
