I have yet to find out where it was published. Might have been in the Chicago Daily News. More info on Nelson can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Nelson_(cartoonist)

It is prohibition era or right after - oddly with al lthe research work I have done on Chciago History I have never run into him- though the Daily News is less available on microfilm than other Chicago newspapers. This also could be early esquire or a simial magazine. In the 1930's newspapers the color material normally ran in the Sunday magazine sections whihc usually were syndicate - don't remember if the News poduced one (the Tribune did in fact often did both a magazine and a book section! Likewise this could be a piece for the fiction insert if the Daily News had one - either way it is a neat piece of art, And I'll keep an eye out for Nelson!
