Description
Here's a set of nine Simpsons Mania sketch cards. It consists of one card each from all nine of the contributing artists, but within that at least one card of each member of the Simpsons family. Many of these card artists were directors of actual episodes of the Simpsons TV show during its golden era of the 1990's. Artists include David Silverman, Wesley Archer, Jim Reardon, and Rich Moore, plus comic artist Phil Ortiz, who unlike the artists drew a different character for virtually every one of this 200+ cards. These cards, from the Inkworks company, released in 2001, were found at a rate of about 1 per 4 boxes and there were about 2,200 total cards in total to be had. At less than 9,000 boxes back when print runs were still 20,000+ for card boxes from the larger manufacturers, this set was a near instant sellout, and these cards are now very hard to find. These days, print runs on Star Wars and Marvel card sets, the best sellers, are often less than the 9,000 produced of Simpsons Mania. Provided there are card collectors 20-30 years from now, the cards from 2000-2010 are going to be quite valuable due to the microscopic print runs, particularly when compared to the 1980's and 1990's, when nearly every set was produced in huge quantity.
