Description

When we were kids, my brothers and I were primarily into the superhero and horror titles and didn't read a lot of war comics. This worked out really well because as an adult I've been able to practically OD on them.

Who drew the best Sgt. Rock, Joe Kubert or Russ Heath? Like every good mom I gotta go with: I love them both.

This page features Rock facing his long-time recurring antagonist The Iron Major and shows off some of Heath's slickest lighting effects. Gotta love the Luger sticking out so far it casts a shadow onto the panel border.

Awesome artwork by Russ Heath. And seeing this, now I want to read the entire story. There's yet another back issue for me to search out!

Props to Joe, but Russ Heath was MY Sgt. Rock artist (kind of the way Joe was MY Tarzan artist) and this page is a jaw-dropper.
