DescriptionThis commission is by Will Meugniot, a familiar name to readers of comic titles such as Tigra (Marvel Chillers), DNAgents, FemForce or Howard the Duck. Will took hold and ran with a very general idea I had for a scene from my faux Thing / John Carter Warlord of Mars team up book (a story I *wish* Marvel had done back in the day as part of the Marvel Two in One title, but never did...) Full credit to Will for everything you see on this page. This is one cup of Marvel bronze age goodness, one cup of pre-code horror comics and one cup of Edgar Rice Burroughs pulps. I am thrilled with the final result. For the uninitiated, this scene shows Tars Tarkas and John Carter, Warlord of Mars, coming to the rescue of the ever loving Thing and Werewolf By Night. This commission was arranged directly with the artist c/o his gallery right here on ComicArtFans: Will Meugniot's CAF Gallery. Will was a complete joy to work with. Great communication, fast work and he totally over-delivered on this drawing. My sincere thanks to him for doing such an incredible job. Social/Sharing |

Someone hurry and help the Thing before he's minus two-on-one! Meugniot went off the charts with coolness on this one.

Well, if Marvel circa 1978 isn't going to do it, then somebody needs to, and you're just the guy to do it. I absolutely love the look on Ben's face. (After looking at this, I had to reread the MTIO 21 where Ben and Johnny met Doc Savage and Co. Good times.)

Wow, a surprise commission by someone who went Hollywood on us. I've always wished Will's Captain American TV series on Fox had not been pulled by the network. I'll bet Fox is counting those missed DVD sales now with the new movie on the way. Lovely work by Will, congratulations on a surprise get.

What do you mean faux? Didn't Roy Thomas write this story with Ron Wilson on pencils for the original. Cover by Bob Layton if I recall.. More seriously, this is amazing. Leave it to the MTIO Guy to come up with an incredible idea and then have it executed flawlessly. Another winner.

The details in this commission are amazing. Every time I look, I see something new. Marvel should revive MTIO and make you the editor. Congrats!
