Neal Adams - Francis Ford Coppola's DRACULA & HIS THREE BRIDES post-production for movie - published in Adams' hardback, MONSTERS!

This was done as "post-production" work for Francis Ford Coppola's "BRAM STROKERS' DRACULA". It is rendered in highly detailed pencils and is signed by Adams. Lucky, it was never inked as I think some of the intricacies would have been lost. I grew up treasuring my copy of "A Story of Dracula, the Wolfman and Frankenstein LP" on Power records from the mid-seventies. This was a 12" record that came with a drop dead gorgeous comic by Adams and featured all the classic monsters. Later it was reprinted in ECHO OF FUTURE PAST (Continuity), as well as MONSTERS, a hardback collection from Vanguard. My very first exposure to Neal's work was the DC Treasury of THE HOUSE OF MYSTERY reprinting "NIGHTMARE" about the young girl (modeled after Adam's daughter) who befriends a whimsical pan character. I had a chance to buy a Neal Adams GL/GA page with black canary in the bottom panal for $250 in '93, but passed because I didn't know enough about original art to realize Adams always had other inkers!!! Nobody around was collecting at the time and even my comic supplier steered me away saying, 'Besides, what would you do with it, anyway?" Wow, you live and learn, eh?

I got my second chance when I purchased this in 2004. It was the only piece from the COPPOLA collection that Adams doesn't own. Neal's son, Spyda, also gave me his blessing the same year in an email that states, "...it is at least in the hands of someone who will take care of it and appreciate it. If you ever feel like trading it, let me know." I also sent him a high resolution scan, since MONSTERS didn't include a decent copy. I've read several quotes by Spyda saying pencil pieces by Adams are quite rare as they hardly ever surface without inks. I can't tell you how it finally feels to own an original, classic monster, by my childhood favorite, Mr. Neal Adams!
