Description

Besides reading comics I was/am also a big space buff. I recently found out on each of the space missions (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttles), the crew's job was to come up with the design for their mission patches (worn on their suits). They worked with a number of artists at Nasa, one being Al Stevens. He did designs for Apollo 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 17. This was a rejected design he did for the crew of Apollo VIII (it was later were changed to Apollo IX). It is signed by all three astronauts, James A. McDivitt, David R. Scott, Russell L. Schweickart. Russell corrected the spelling of his name.
