DescriptionAnother rejected design by Al Stevens this one for the most famous mission in history. Jim Lovell, backup commander for the Apollo 11, came up with the idea of an American eagle. Mike Collins later found an image of an eagle from National Geographic to use. A number of things were changed between this design and the approved patch design, including the eagle is facing the opposite way and the open talons. Some thought it was too aggressive. So the final design had the eagle holding an olive branch.Social/Sharing |
