Description

George Cruikshank (1792-1878) is called a satirist or a caricaturist and he was certainly those but he was also a cartoonist before the word came into today's common usage. Kelly Freas (1922-2005) is widely considered the most prolific, popular and honored (11 Hugo Awards) of at least the last half of the 20th Century, maybe of all time. He's best remembered now for his Mad Magazine covers coinciding (in my opinion) exactly with Mad's best issues. Kelly Freas decided to do some Cruikshank and the result is more Kelly Freas than Cruikshank.
