Description
This is my first commission for "The Phonogram Project" by Mr. "Dead@17" Josh Howard. I believe my path with Mr. Howard first crossed at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con. I was wanndering around artist alley, and purchased a few random pages. The main reason I purchased them (besides the price and partial nudity), was it reminded me of the art by that guy who does "Dead @ 17". Turns out, the reason it reminded me of the art by that guy who does "Dead @ 17" is, it was by that guy who does "Dead @ 17". Mr. Howard (calling Mr. Howard, Mr. Fine, Mr. Howard), is know for creating his own style of comic art know as "Cute Girl", which as far as I am concerned, represent the way an indie girl comic should look. Dead @17 is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer taken to the extreme (if that is possible). Mr. Horward recently merged his works Dead@17 and The Lost Books of Eve to create his own Howardverse. A movie is in the works for Dead@17, so his art may get a bump in price similar to the "Scott Pilgrim" Effect (hopefully not the same reception in the theatres though). The first item noticed on this commission is those eyes (she's got Josh Howard eyyyyyyyyeessss...but why is she looking left?). The second item I noticed is while this is definitely a Josh Howard page, it's not really a standard Josh Howard girl. Working from someone elses design, it's a little unique, especially something about those lips. As far as future commisions for "The Phonogram Project", I received a polite rejection from Mr. Frank Cho this month (Steve Ditko, Frank Cho...I have to quit asking artists whose last name ends with an "o"). I also received one more positive response. My rejected to accepted level right now is 3 to 1, so I'd better start meeting some more artists!!! However, the latest commission will get me thru June, and up to San Diego Comic Con. AND NOW WE GET TO THAT!!! If you were like me, you were at your computer at 09:00AM PST (fortunately 12:00PM EST for me), and spent the next four hours hitting the refresh button on your web browser. After all the false attempts, I finally gave up about 04:00PM, took a shower, and tried one more time at 05:00PM. I was all p!ssed off, but finally got a 1 day Thurday ticket at least. Turns out it was a good thing I checked back, 'cuz ALL tickets were sold out about an hour later. Well, I'll be arriving in San Diego Wednesday. The next interesting thing that is going to happen is whenever everyone tries to do what I'm planning on doing and buy a four day tiicket with preview night for 2012 at the Con. I've already made my travel and lodging reservations, so it's going to be interesting what I do in San Diego the other three days.
