Description

How many people can ever say they received a commission "FROM THE GREAT BEYOND?" Not too many I'm guessing, although that is what truly happened this past week, thanks to the generosity of my good friend, Mr. Jim Reid! If you have read a few of my Ruth descriptions in the past, you'll know that I was given an I.O.U. back at a two day comicon in '97. Well, Mr. Ruth unfortunately passed away before I could ever get that commission. Fast forward fourteen years later, it looks like Bil Ruth finally made good on that promise, boy did he! Far from just any commission, this is actually the very same page a younger Robbie salivated over at Ruth's booth. Most of his pages were priced way too much for me at the time. This was the page I had my heart set on, as it was the unpublished splash page from "HE'S BACK!" The page was completely finished except for the inking of the "text" in the bubble. I always wished I could have gotten a "zombie in the graveyard" commission from Ruth and this goes waaay beyond that, I tell you. I cannot thank Mr. Jim Reid enough for his random act of unconventional generosity. He may never know just what THIS page actually means to me deep down, but I can tell you, I'm the happiest guy on the block! YOU ROCK, JIM! ; )
