Description

A very neat piece from the Walt Disney of Japan. I first discovered Miyazaki with my kids. My eldest was 1 and I bought a set off of ebay with English subtitles. What a wealth of art and storytelling. They are easily my favorite animation movies of all time. Here is a nice, large watercolor by the man himself. I believe it was from Nausicaa and I believe it to be a production piece. Elegant and subtle.

Since getting this, the authenticity of this piece has fallen into serious question. It was from a French collector via a shady Japanese seller. In light that all the art that I know of from them has been shown to be of questionable origin, it is safe to assume that this is also fruit from the poisoned tree. I must admit, they did a good job and the piece is still something I enjoy looking at but something I lost a significant investment in. Be wary of any top end Japanese art on the market. The seller was Manga Legends out of Tokyo.
