DescriptionWhen I first saw this peice, it blew me away. Not just because I'm a huge Tori Amos fan but it has a very magical, mystical feel to it with just a touch of the macabre. To me, it was perfect. I was also a new fan of Mr. Brereton's and fell in love with his unique vision. One big problem, though. You see, I'm kind of shy especially when it comes to confronting artists. I've never had the opportunity to meet any artist in person.. but even the thought of e-mailing someone to ask if a certain piece was still available (sometimes galleries aren't updated so a person is never truly sure unless they ask) is still daunting. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Brereton and I was afraid of (1) that this wasn't available anymore and (2) I didn't want to come off as a flake. But the draw to this piece was just too overwhelming. Did you ever just feel a 'certain something' about a work of art? Well, that 'certain something' that I was feeling was just too strong to ignore so I screwed up enough courage and wrote to him. The best move I ever made. I can't thank Mr. Brereton enough (okay... Dan lol) and I'm still overwhelmed by this beauty. The image shown is from my camera but I also thought that if I added the scan that Dan had in his gallery, you'll be able to get a true idea of how extraordinary this piece is by comparing the two images. In person, it's so vibrant and really remarkable. I can't stop admiring it and I can't stop talking about it. It was truly love at first site. *11x17, done in acrylic gouache on bristol board* *This was done for a very worthy cause/charity that Tori Amos co-founded - RAINN. Published as a page in their charity calendar... I'm just not sure which year.* Social/Sharing |

Brereton did such an AMAZING job on this piece. He is the perfect artist to render her portrait. Congrats.

Another Fantastic piece by Dan and I love his use of colors! His art has a habit of just leaping off the page at you and this one is a real Beauty. Congrats on landing this one Holly and after finding out how easy that was, can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

I like how he used bright primary colors on the main figure and muted tones for the animals. I also like how the animals only have a hint of anthropomorphism. I imagine the effect must be stunning in person.

Although there is a hint of anthropomorphism in the beasts, Tori also looks very animale which I think ties it all together beautifully. The title really says it all. ;)
