I was doing some sketching with my son last week and doodled up this first version of the Iron Man pencils you see here. I thought it was worth cleaning up. Once I had the finished line-work it dawned on me that it might be a fun experiment to get my good buddy, Chris Stevens, to do his marker magic-painting technique over my open, simplified line art. I dont want to toot my own horn but THAT turned out to be a great idea. Chris had a blast with it and I think the results speak for themselves. Suffice it to say, me and Chris will be doing more of these. Hope you like!

So you deleted my comment huh? You think my pithy thoughts are so easily replicated? You know how long it takes me to construct a comic art critque? Let me see...what was I saying...oh, yeah, you are usually the embellisher but here your smooth pencil work is the embelishee. Ha. And you had the brilliant foresight to have the genius that is Chris Stevens cover your pencils. Wow. Wonderful piece.

Gosh Tim this is awesome, I'm not an Iron Man fan but this is top notch. Love the general movement, the line in the legs. Something of a Kirby/Steranko mélange. Are you (+ Chris) planning to do some more of these? A Captain, a Nick Fury? If yes I'm your man for sure....

Thanks for the kind words, Olivier! Chris and I are planning on doing the whole original Avengers line up and then possible expanding out in to the ensuing roster. We'll see how far we can take it. We're going to take each of these individual pieces and combine them (in Photoshop) in to a larger group image. We just did the Hulk which Ill be posting soon...maybe later today. Stay tuned!

Wow can't wait to see this - would they be for sale? If yes please let me know - I'm very interested to have something from both of you & certainly a Fury one if you guys have some free time - thx in advance ;o)
