Waitaminute! That's Nightwing? Well, the story goes a little like this.

(Paraphrased from Marat's Blog) - Back in February 2012, writer Sterling Gates, best known for his work on Supergirl, and Marat kicked around an idea for a Nightwing series. It was going to be a brand new character taking up the role of Nightwing. Marat came up with this design for the character and they proceeded to pitch it to DC. However some guy named Grant Morrison (heard of him? LOL) apparently has a master plan for Nightwing so it's a no go. Marat posted the image that he had come up with on his blog.

While it wasn't Dick Grayson, I liked the look of his Nightwing and wanted him to do a new Spider-Wing piece for me with his version of Nightwing, and model Spider-Man off the press image for the new movie.

This turned out great in my opinion. Marat did one of my first Spider-Wing pieces back in 2001, so it was pretty cool to get an all new one from him a decade later.

You really seem to bring out the best in Marat's artwork. This is outstanding.
