DescriptionGraeme's write-up for this great sketch - "British soldiers trapped behind enemy lines in Burma are 'rescued' by the appearance of Captain Joe Darkie a sadistic nut case who decides to take the soldiers further into Japanese held territory and take the fight to the enemy. Written by John Wagner and illustrated by Mike Western this strip featured plenty of gore and violence but held you captivated by the progressing story-line including the fact that Joe Darkie wasn't even a Captain in the British Army and some other dark secrets."Originally published in a comic called BATTLE and recently released in a collected form, if you like Wagners no-nonsense work on Batman and 2000ad you'll like this too. British war comics have always had a strong appeal for me and Graeme definitly has a strong affinity for drawing such, I hope to get more like this off him at some point... Social/Sharing |

great stuff! i well remember reading darkie's mob all those years ago and loving it, but i doubt its very PC by todays standards, lol. looking forward to re-visiting it myself when i get hold of the reprint collection.
