Description
Flamingo was a good girl art character crafted by the great Matt Baker who also gave the Phantom Lady her pizazz. Contrary to popular belief, and most sources, Baker was the first African American to do a syndicated comic strip, namely this strip, Flamingo, which ran from 1952 to 1956. From 1953 to 1956, it was drawn by the artist here, John Thornton. Since 9-16-56 was a Sunday, this is from September 16, 1953, 1954 or 1955.

In the comics, Flamingo, was a tigress. In the strip, she was more like a kitten. This was true of Baker's strip as well as Thornton's. She looks remarkably sultry in second panel though. That's worth the price of admission.
