Description

"BIG JOHN" sketches of monsters or sci-fi creatures very rarely surface these days, so I knew I just had to have this one. This measures 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 and completely covers the whole page. In fact, the martian, who resembles a very pissed off Tony Randall (7 Faces of Dr. Lao), measures 5 1/2 by 9 1/2!!! Kind of large for just a Buscema sketch from the examples I've seen on eBay.

The images are rendered and partially inked by the man many refer to as the "the Michelangelo of comics." Just a beautiful example of Buscema's gorgeous work and a glimpse into his fertile imagination.

Not certain where this piece was used or if it was ever published (sketchbook?), but you can certainly see Buscema's "high energy" in every stroke. I've always loved Buscema's western scenes as well so this one seem to have it all. It is also signed by the master himself.

And I actually purchased this beautiful piece from the funds from one of my own comic strips! Priceless!

Big John combines my two of my favorite genres: Westerns and Sci-Fi !! Very sweet, and I am very jealous. Wish I had even one sketch by the master.... Sigh...

Very cool and unique piece from John Buscema! He was such a pleasant and generous man whenever I saw him at conventions, and he could really draw. Unmistakable style
