DescriptionPage 15 from issue 1 of DC's "Nightwing" (Vol 2, 1996) with pencils by Scott McDaniel (initialed in upper Right) and inks by Karl Story on 11" x 17" DC Offset paper. It was such a great thrill getting a page from issue 1 of this series. Started loving Scott McDaniel's work because of this series. Was always a big Dick Grayson fan from when I was a kid, and this series (with Chuck Dixon at the helm) did a great job of letting that character grow. I mean I could not WAIT to read it every month... until each new artist DC brought in was progressively worse and then, when they brought Devin Grayson in to write, I was done: she started off destroying everything Dixon spent 70 issues creating, but it's always easier to destroy then create, and when it finally came to her "creating," she far from cut it. RIP a once great series. Social/Sharing |

I feel exactly the same... I loved this series, which was perfect until the end of McDaniel's run (even Dixon's story were less creative afterwards). I was actually a Devin Grayson fan before her Nightwing run and couldn't believe how badly she wrote the character she said to love the most... Maybe she was TOO close to the material. Similar thing had happened with the Cass Cain BATGIRL series.... Great page though !

Great acquisition. I generally concur with your assessment of the run, but would recommend the last year or so's worth of stories by Peter J Tomasi, which exemplified all the things which make Dick different to Bruce, most notably his friendships with nearly every hero going, from Superman to the JSA.

Good to hear that, based on your assessment, they got back on track with Dick/Nightwing.
