DescriptionAfter Michael's great Re-Legion work on Avengers Issue 53, I was anxious for more. Luckily there is no shortage of dramatic Buscema covers to choose from but this one with the original X Men fighting their arch nemesis Magneto (pardon the pun ) stood out head and shoulders above the restIt is set around the Adventure Comics 369 storyline where Mordru pursues the Legion ( Superboy, Mon-el. Duo Damsel & Shadow Lass ) members back to 20th century Smallville. That allowed us to add in an old favorite of mine, Lana Lang in her capacity as Legion reservist Insect Queen.. I was not a fan of the old winged fez hat that Mordru wore in that story so we updated that to something George Perez designed. A ripple effect around the figure that was originally Marvel Girl and we add Duo Damsel to the mix. . Michael is so painstaking meticulous but its pays off.He is a great guy to work with and his excitement is infectious. Its a great detailed piece that brings us back to the early glorious years of both the X Men and the Legion of superheroes... Social/Sharing |

Love it! I remember the first time I read that story and you got a sense of just how powerful and dangerous Mordru was when the Legion had to hide from him in the past. Also I love anything with Lana as Insect Queen!

Ahhhh....takes me back to Vintage Legion comics! Awesome commish Aidan! (Pssst...MORDRU is the coolest Legion villain imo!)

I loved this as an X-Men cover and I love it even more with the Legion. A great idea, beautifully rendered. Congrats!

It was an image of the Black Knight & Aragorn that Michael did, which led me to my first commission. He is working on a Karate Kid / Comet the Super-Horse piece that is going to be stunning...this collection has grown beyond anything I ever imagined but artists like Michael make it so much FUN !

Wonderful work. That was one of my favorite Jim Shooter story lines. Lana looks fantastic!
