Description

Pages 35 from the issue 50 of Dark Horse's "Conan" (Vol 1, 2008) with pencils by Tomas Giorello on 11.75" x 17.5" Dark Horse Comics Art Board.

Tragic piece for Conan: I always thought Nestor (the Gunderman) became a great friend to Conan, one that Conan valued. Then to see Nestor hanging from a post... that clearly bothered Conan (I'd say "upset" but I don't think Conan ever gets "upset"). Then to have Nestor "sort of" come back to life via sorcery, and THEN for Conan to be forced to kill him (which takes place on the following page)? Tragic. Great work by Tom in capturing the indecision in Conan as he tries NOT to have to kill his living-dead friend, until there's no choice. And LOVE that panel where Conan's face is shadowed by the crossing swords! Obviously, my photo does nothing to capture this, mainly because only Tom's original art can capture the true beauty of this piece: It's even better than what's published in the comic. Great piece from a great artist and person.
