Finally, another great Chiodo!!! I love the Chiodo paintings from his Wildstorm days, and this set in particular. As for this piece, I love the colors and the character so I just had to get this:)


This is Helspont, one of the Daemonite Lords of Hel, and the main bad guy from the original Wildcats mini series. This was card #137, the last card, from the 1995 Wildstorm Gallery trading card set and was only available as an insert in the Wildstorm Rising #2 book. (This subset was 11 cards, all by Joe, #'d past the 127 regular cards of the set and were only available in the Wildstorm comics of that month) The card collector in me had to have them back in the day, and I cut them out of all my books that month. So I thought it would be cool to try to put the subset together, but with the actual paintings. (we all need goals:) I now have the Zealot painting from this subset, this one, and another on the way in a month or 2, so I am very excited!

I see how it is. Hillman posts some painted card art today, you post some painted card art today, and now I am just waiting for Morphy to post one. I watch all 3 of your galleries to see what card art pops up! Nice piece!

Ha ha, thanks J! I saw Hillman's post today too and already commented on it myself:) Morphy is still paying off his 2 Hildebrandts, so he probably won't post anything today;)
If you like watching my painted card art postings, keep watching because I have my own Hildebrandt coming as well as another Chiodo. Should have both paid off and posted by next month. ;)-

Oh Damn.....I totally remember this card. One of the best images of Helspont for sure. Nice catch.

you guys keep paying for trading cards, that way when a booth or clark cover shows up I'll have funds for it and you'll be handcuffed with time payments for amazing pieces like this one! Chiodo really brought wildstorm alive back then.

Ben, I'm time-payment free and liquid. Let's throw down when a Booth cover comes up ;) Ha ha ha! Dave, this is a fantastic painting! I gave it a long look and would have bought it if it was 11x17. Great score!!!
