Whilst this was a mythical album for the Johan and Peewit series, it was this very album which marked the birth of the Smurfs. The Smurfs and the Magic Flute is additionally the most advanced album in terms of its graphics and storyline. This album cover includes in a single illustration all four elements which are specific to the work, namely: music, mystery, humour and the Smurfs. It is additionally one of the most recognised covers of comic art, in the same regard as those of Hergé or Jacobs.
