1966 Terry and the Pirates Shock Treatment

Terry was the creation of Milton Caniff, who, in 1946, quit this strip which was owned by the syndicate and did Steve Canyon. George Wunder took over and carried it into the 1970's. It remained a first rate adventure strip that spawned a TV series, a radio program, a movie serial, etc. This is the April 14, 1966 daily, part of the "Shock Treatment' story line that ran most of the first half of that year. It's named after the villainess Shock who, as we can tell is very very bad. We can also tell that they didn't let grass grow under the characters' feet but moved things along.

I was very surprised at how striking this is in person, compared to how it looked online. It's over 7" by 23" with no half tones whatsoever. The blacks just pop out as does the close up in the last panel. George Wunder didn't get the respect he deserved probably because he inherited this strip.
