Description
One of the things I used to love about superhero teams would be when they'd fight each other. Justice League vs. Justice Society, Avengers vs. Defenders, and the mother of them all, JLA/Avengers. So when trying to decide on a superteam to take on the Brotherhood, I wanted to make sure I picked one that would make sense.
So I thought, if the Black Panther -- leader of a foreign government -- put together a superteam, the U.S. Government might not be too comfortable with that. And just who would they send in to check it out? Yeah, a bunch of villains, aka the Suicide Squad! Seemed like a natural.

FIrst I needed a layout. The cover to Justice Society of America #39 (by Jose Merino) perfectly fit the bill. Next came the match-ups. Black Panther vs. Bronze Tiger seemed like a no-brainer. I also wanted Deadshot on there, but I needed someone to punch him out, so I brought in the Falcon. I also wanted to use General Eiling (aka the Shaggy Man) but I needed a heavy hitter to heavy hit him. That meant Icon.

I still had two more villian slots to fill. In the foreground, I originally started to go with Plastique, but Captain Boomerang is so much more of a Suicide Squad icon that I couldn't pass him up. Finally, I needed somebody knocked unconscious on the ground. Enter Count Vertigo who wound up -- as my pal and fellow CAF gallery owner Shannon Weathers would say -- down for the count. Send your groans and boos to Shannon, care of his gallery.

I took all of that and threw it at the great Christopher Ivy, and man did he do a stellar job drawing this baby. You can go to Chris's own CAF gallery and contact him to do a commission for you. As you can see, he does incredible work. Special thanks to him for doing this one for me.
