Description

One of the earliest images I remember seeing from this series. My first reaction was WTF, followed by "holy shit, this is going to be awesome!" It was. Doug Moench and Kelley Jones made sure of it. Red Rain and the other two that followed, Bloodstorm and Crimson Mist, were examples of great Elseworld tales that had their own twists on the Batman mythos.

This particular image has been used in various promo items, a giclee, among others. One of the most recognizable pieces of art from this series, IMHO. It's inked by Jones himself, and not by ~~Les Dorscheid~~ Malcolm Jones III, who inked the book.

I have a couple of the Monech/Jones issues and Jones does have a distinctive take on Batman that will be remembered (but never fully imitated) for generations to come.

Awesome piece! Tho I think you mean Malcolm Jones, III who inked the interiors, not Les Dorsheid. Les is/was Kelley's longtime colorist.
