Here is a commission piece featuring everyone's favorite wall crawler... um... wait a minute... Looks like Venom has stolen Spidey's thunder by taking over his cover to Spider-man #1 by (the incomparible) Todd McFarlane. Funny thing about this piece... I didn't originally have the spiders on this recreation, but I showed it to a friend of mine (who, to my knowledge, has never been a real comics fan) along with the original McFarlane cover, and he asks me, "Where are the spiders at?" What could I say? "Venom ate them", was all I could come up with. I then, quickly, added the spiders. Also, I think this is the first time I've drawn Venom with his mouth closed in about 5 or 6 years. He can't keep his mouth open all of the time. His tongue would dry out! I like to give him this pronounced underbite / Todd McFarlane Violator (from Spawn) type jaw. Just a little something different.
