New 52 Superman and Lois Lane Part 01

Yes I know usually I would start with displaying the 4 x 6 sketchbook prelim but thought why not start with a bang. I wanted to capture the new romantic tension between the new Clark and Lois, so why not try my luck with the new suit as opposed to the jeans and tee? This composition was photo referenced from one of the Dragon con shots from DannyandHeatherKelly. The only differences I made were in the faces and Superman's costume, as Danny was wearing the classic look. The photo helped in getting the proportions correct, but admittedly the belt is a little too large and makes him look a little squat, so that won't be repeated on the good draft. This is 9 x 12 3-ply bristol board with graphic leads. Biggest headache was the hair for both characters, but they were worth it in the end. Haven't decided on whether to do the good copy in copics or watercolor. We'll see.
