Judge Dredd Annual 1988 prelim Bolland

"The Dredd End"
Originally, Bolland drew this as a way to protest the fact that 2000AD artists got no residuals on their art from all of the 2000AD merchandising. They were paid once and then 2000AD re-used their art ad nauseam. He drew a Dredd that they could never reprint because it was so absurd. Joke's on them!

However, 2000AD "chickened out" (Bolland's words from "The Art of Brian Bolland" book published by Image). They changed the words to reflect his "boredom" with drawing the same character in the same way over and over again. So, here he takes the opportunity to show them something different.

I've always liked the finished page because it really stuck out. Very pleased to have the prelim.
