Description

One of my "near-grails" by the great Gene Colan. This is one of a five-page sequence with the "infamous" car-chase scene inspired by the classic Steve McQueen film, BULLIT. Gene tells the story behind this sequence in several interviews...he was so inspired by the film that he filled up too many pages with the car chase and had to cram in the rest of the story in the remaining pages---so much that even Stan got on his case! (Luckily for us fans, he let it go through.) Famed Kirby inker Joe Sinnott mangaged to capture Gene's sense of action perfectly, IMO.
Bought directly from Gene and his wonderful wife, Adrienne (R.I.P.). They were delightful to deal with.

There is really no need to mention how awesome the art is, so let me just add that to have a page from Gene's (in)famous Bullit sequence (the start of it, no less) is some serious comic nerd cred.
