Description

In honor of Marvel's 25th anniversary, every monthly title shared a common theme of having a starring character appear surrounded by a special border featuring most of the Marvel superheroes of that time. Decepticon combiner Menasor was given the honors for the Transformers comic. Note that Menasor was drawn exactly as his toy appears, and not the animation model that appears within the comic.

Like all Marvel 25th Anniversary cover artwork, none of the borders were ever affixed to the original artwork. I reached out to mega-collector Mike Burkey who owns the original border artwork and he was generous enough to provide a scan, so that I might mock up an overlay for my cover. I completed the mockup, complete with a logo built from scratch, but never did decide how to print it out.

Menasor not exactly the most popular Transformer but this cover is part of Marvel history. And Trimpe is one of the best Transformers cover artists of all time. Nice acquisition!
