Description
HUGE PROMOTIONAL PAINTING (circa 1980s) to promote the launch of the ex-Charlton characters under the DC banner. Finished artwork is by John Higgins (painting over Pat Broderick's pencils). John was born in my home town of Liverpool. I've met him a couple of times and he's a really nice guy to talk to. Gracious, polite and very down to earth. Originally, these characters were to form the basis for Alan Moore's WATCHMEN series . . . only Dick Giordano nixed the idea!

This could almost be a "Watchmen" piece...and Higgins always did great coloring.Very Nice.

For some strange reason, I really like that logo in the background.

Thanks for clearing up a mystery, Pat! I remember John Higgins telling me that he didn't provide pencils (your name was probably mentioned, but I'd forgotten the next day - as our discussion took place in a bar where drinks were being downed rapidly!)
