Back Home Again Strip 8-12-1940

Ed Dodd (1902-1991) is best known for having been the original creator of Mark Trail. Back Home Again was a nostalgic single panel cartoon by Ed Dodd that ran from 1930 to 1945, just before Mark Trail began. It involved situations and characters from his Georgia childhood. The scene here looks to be set in around 1910-1914, when Dodd would have been the boy enjoying a visit from "the only girl in the world" who appears to be shooting him a look that's awfully vampy for a pre-teen girl, especially for the time. No wonder he's clutching the covers. On Ebay, her expression looked pretty blank as it probably did when reproduced in the newspapers. Too bad she has no fingers.
