Karate Kid vs. The Weapon by Scott Koblish

I've been a fan of Scott Koblish's art for years and had thought about getting a commission from him for a while. When I finally contacted Scott about a commission, I asked him about drawing a Karate Kid one and gave him some suggestions for opponents. Scott came back with a suggestion of his own with the Weapon, a character he designed years ago for a miniseries written by Fred Van Lente. Scott included a link where I could read the comic online and I promptly did so, since I had foolishly missed the series when it first came out. And I enjoyed the heck out of it! Anyway, I told Scott to go with the Weapon and a few days later he sent this incredible piece to me. I love the layout of this piece and that Scott gave the Weapon some nunchaku to use in battle. I also really dig the rectangles in the background behind Val Armorr as well, as they seem to help convey Val's motion. Anyway, big thanks to Scott for this commission!

Tommy Zhou (aka the Weapon) is a very skilled martial artist, and his solid light weapons will give him an element of surprise in this fight, for all the good it will do him. Ha! I like Tommy a lot, and he has done some amazing things and defeated many opponents, but Val Armorr is just out of his league. Val may take a hit from one of Tommy's weapons when he is surprised by the attack, but quickly after that Val will take the weapon from Tommy's hands and then dispose of both Tommy and any hard light weapons in short order. Afterwards Val can teach Tommy some new moves to use against the Lin Kuie.
