DescriptionThe Saint was created by Leslie Charteris during the 1930's in a series of novels. He is probably best known to most people from his 1960's TV series starring future James Bond, Roger Moore. He has been featured in virtually every medium, radio, movies, TV, comics, etc. Charteris himself wrote the comic strip, which ran from Sept. 1948 to Sept. 1961 under three successive artists, the most enduring of whom was John Spranger, 1951-1959.This is Charteris' and Spranger's October 27, 1953 daily. The Saint, who, under Spranger, sported a beard, is not in evidence. The villain is the very image of a 1950's Latin American dictator. Nice pair of girlfriends, a Carmen Miranda type and a smoking floozie. Social/Sharing |
