Description

This was one of Don's paintings for the serialization of Norman Mailer's novel ANCIENT EVENINGS that ran in Playboy.

It used to be that publishers would peel the backs off paintings created on illustration board to be able to wrap the art around drum scanners (ah, history) for color separations. Sometimes there were "accidents" that resulted in the art having to be redone if there wasn't a transparency. Don decided to start painting in acrylics on heavy mylar to avoid the stripping hazard--plus he was able to roll the art, slam it in a tube and mail it to the client with little fuss. Will they hold up over time? We'll see: they're doing fine so far.

Acrylic on mylar. 22"x12".
