DescriptionSo I was at Heroes Con in Charlotte last year when my good friend Shannon suggested I get Jim Rugg to do a Joker sketch for me in a Joker-themed sketchbook I have going on. Jim knocked it out with one of the creepiest/coolest Jokers in the book (will post eventually!) and was very cool to chat with about comics, art, cons, etc. Fast-forward to this year at Heroes when I decided on day 2 to pick up "Afrodisiac" based (again) on Shannon's recommendation. I must have laughed aloud or said how cool it was with each turn of the page. *I highly recommend it to all! Day 3 of the show I wanted to tell Jim how cool that book was so we struck up a conversation and he gave me a great deal on a print, a couple of comics, and a sketch of Afrodisiac himself in another sketchbook of mine. While Jim was sketching for me there I was looking through his binder of art for sale when I came across the Steranko-ish/Nick Fury-ish commission of Afrodisiac in the style of an old Marvel cover. It was amazing and I just gushed about how great it was. Jim told me that someone had commissioned it for Heroes but never showed or even contacted him about it. Since that was the case, Jim said it was for sale and I ended up making an offer at the very end of the show and now this incredibly awesome piece is mine! SORRY to whomever commissioned it originally but them's the breaks! Needless to say, Jim Rugg is uber-talented and on top of that, one of the nicest, most generous pros I've met at a show, Buy his stuff and support his work, I know I sure will from here on out!Social/Sharing |
