Description

When the opportunity presented itself to commission the dazzlingly talented Tom Raney, I couldn't pass it by. The tough part was deciding which Common Elements pairing I'd ask Tom to tackle.

We settled on this matchup of Sabre, the swashbuckling hero created by Don McGregor and Paul Gulacy for one of the first true graphic novels, and Katana of the Outsiders. Tom's gift for detail and character made me a wee bit giddy when I first laid eyes on his finished artwork.

This is Common Elements #106.

Rankins...grrrrrrrrrrrr.....going old school with Don Mac's Sabre which had that gorgeous Gulacy artwork and then combining it with Katana -- seriously, what a great Common Elements and choosing the art of Tom Raney, inspired....

While I would have gone with a swashbuckling Nightcrawler (love that dude) I gotta say... wow. I mean I love Tom Raney and he did a crazy nice job on this. congrats on this brilliant piece!
