Description

After admiring his art for years, I finally got the chance to meet Gene Ha at the Baltimore Comic Con 2012. I gave him a sketch I had done of this character, and as we talked at length about his work on Top 10, (one of my favorite comics of all time) he generously sketched for me in return. As he sketched, he gave me an art lesson dealing with shading an object with 2 separate light sources. Apparently the key is to treat the object as 2 separate objects! I love how Gene eschews hard ink lines, using negative space, pencil and gray markers instead. Thank you so much, Gene!
