Legion of Superheroes Homage to Crisis on Infinite Earth's The Collected Edition ( Infinite Timelines : Battlelines - First Blood )

Steve Gumm did a bang up job. The downside of posting this on CAF ( for me at least ) is that everytime I post a new piece by him, other good folks want ther own piece done and he gets busier. He deserves the accolades, the attention and the extra work. Steve does such an amazing job and his attention to detail is second to none.

This time we chose the Omnibus Crisis Hardcover as our inspiration. Infinite Timelines draws heavily on this epic storytelling tradition. This piece picks up where Steve last left off. His last piece had Kid Quantum, Kid Psycho and others undergoing a murderous onslaught from The Time Trapper, The Emerald Empress and Mordru the Merciless...

The cover shows the cost of heroism. Steve drew Kid Quantum's sister ( She later also became a Legionnaire ) holding his costume in shock and disbelief. The facial expressions are amazing..from a truimphant Mordru to the deep concern on Phantom Girl's face.

Its a beautiful piece. We had great fun mixing up Legionnaires of all different incarnations, with one or two obscure ones put in for the hardcore Legion fans.

Again thanks to Russ Payne for his work on the logo's. The " First Blood " His creepy lettering ( and I mean that in the best way ) adds to the intensity of the scene.
