Description

Kelley Jones was one of the names on my must list for a commission. His work on The Sandman was the perfect marriage between artist and story. When I think of Morpheus it is Mr. Jones's art that comes to mind. I asked for the commission in June of this year 2012 but due to a commitment he had with Disney he wasn't able to complete it until October. Well worth the wait.

Brilliant. Differently from what happens with many other artists, this one entirely recreates the mood and the magic of original Jones production. Stunning.

I agree. I asked Kelly if he could somehow add the helmet to the piece without having Morpheus wear it because I wanted to see his face. I think the choice he made of putting it in the foreground at the Sandman's feet creates a unique mood and purpose.
