Description

1st appearance of The Unknown Soldier!

Star-Spangled War Stories #151 -- "They Came From Shangri-La!"

This page has so much I wanted in my first Kubert piece. Its from the debut issue of the Unknown Soldier! I love the classic Kubert posture on the machine gunner in the top tier, it has action, and the last 3 panels showcase Kubert's genius as a story teller. Kubert's Unknown Soldier pages are so dang hard to come by, I can't believe I've landed one from his first appearance.

Great page. Top two tiers are first class war art by Joe and then the transition into the last tier. I like the second last panel and the perspective Joe used to bring us into the conversation. Brilliant all around.

A historic landmark, but, above all, a dense and intense Joe Kubert page on top of his game!
