Description

This photograph includes the following inscription, in the negative:

"Gasoline Alley" 1922 Circus 3987 Strauch (sp?)

On the back is written "Walt & Skeezix"

The models are obviously intended to look like the main characters of Frank King's comic strip, Gasoline Alley, as is obvious from the man's swept forward lock of hair and the fact that he is wearing a bath robe, as Walt Wallet so frequently did. The man closely resembles Walter (Walt) Drew, the brother of King's wife, Delia. Walt Drew was the very person upon whom King based the character, Walt Wallet. If I am correct in this identification of the model in this photograph, this would be the only image I have ever seen showing Walt Drew dressed up to represent the comic strip version of himself.
