I've been a big fan of the Dial H for Hero concept since I read the Adventure Comics stories in the 1980s. Most recently, writer China Miéville has revived the concept for an interesting new series as part of DC's New 52 line, but writer Will Pfeifer had his intelligent spin on the concept a decade ago. This is the first page from the final issue of that short-lived but well-received series.

Mind you, while I loved the H Dial, the real reason I was drawn to this page was for Dale Eaglesham's artwork. The images in the panels capture the campiness of the concept, the magic of the H-Dials and the intensity of the drama revolving around the oddball concept.

Got this for a steal on eBay, which comes as no surprise. There are no pajor characters here and the series wasn't a huge seller for DC Comics. But I think it's a solid example of Eaglesham's strong storytelling skills.
