DescriptionWhat can I say? Except that im over the Moon to now be lucky enough to own a page from this story. And its a page that means everything to me as this is the page that always springs to mind whenever I think of this story. A true grail ! (This was the only story - which I cut out from the original progs and then sellotaped together, that I saved from my 2000ad collection when the big clear out came. And I still have that - now very tatty, proto-graphic novel. I wouldnt part with it for anything!). Skizz ran from Prog 308 - 330, and was superbly drawn by Jim Baikie, and was written by certain hirsute chap from Northampton, who's name escapes me for the moment.. Jim's art was certainly a big part of the appeal for me. (Prior to 2000ad, he had spent his time drawing decidedly non-scifi fare - and it served him well here, I think.) But this strip was where i first came across Jim's work, and I became an instant fan. Always pleased to see his work in the prog. And because of who he is, we must now mention the writer. Back then, I dont think i would have recognised his name, if I had heard it mentioned. But I could have repeated the lines of dialogue he wrote verbatim. Years later when I began re-buying all those old progs, it came as little suprise to find that all those stories that had stuck in my mind, was in fact written by the same man. Much has been written about Alan Moore - for it is he, but those early 2000ad stories were a real cut above. Fun, witty, memorable, poignant and intelligent fare. Alan Moore meets Grange Hill! A classic, and underrated, strip. I love the mundane, soap-opera like beginnings to the story - really emphasises the subsequent out-of-this-world events nicely.

Just a great page - as a boy going to secondary school at the time - I could really relate to aspects of the strip. Baikie was on fire on this strip - has that classic touch of UK comics. Fantastic!

Fantastic!I totally agree Sean. Being 15 years old in 1983, i could definitely relate to this strip, as well. A very big part of the appeal.
