Description
From Weird Worlds #1.

1972 was my favorite year as a comic reader. Dozens of new, talented artists and writers entering the field and the old guard picking up their game to show they still had the goods.

The art on Pellucidar made a huge impression on me. Alan inked his own pencils on the first two chapters. The rest were inked by the Crusty Bunkers with Neal Adams handling the main characters.

I loved Alan's inks on the first chapter more than he did. The experimental marker effects didn't print as well as he'd hoped so he used India ink on this second installment.

Alan was very young when he drew this but you can see he was already a virtuoso, especially with rendering, realistic lighting and anatomy.

A real highlight of my little comic art collection.

I always hoped to see more of his art. It really made an impression on me. Very unique, and rare.
