Description

Batwoman was one of the most underrated characters of the Silver Age of Comics. Starting in 1956, she lasted less than ten years, before being replaced by the initially campy and more derivative Batgirl. Batwoman was not a carbon copy of her male counterpart. Her costume was completely different and she had no preexisting relationship with any of the already established characters. At least one commentator (and I agree) said that her relationship with Batman was the most well-rounded and mature of any of Batman's women.

Decades after her disappearance from the Batman mythos without explanation or acknowledgement that she was gone, she was revived for the apparent sole purpose of having her brutally and gratuitously killed in a now well-established and tiresome comic book tradition.

This was the piece that got me acquainted with Buzz. I bought a commission on Ebay and asked for a redoing of the picture Batwoman had at the entrance to her cave. I suggested that her costume be changed to a body suit and modernized. Buzz did a terrific job on this. The inverted triangle behind her was Buzz's idea and shows that he understands composition in adition to female anatomy and lots of other things.

This is also one of Buzz's favorites having been featured in one of his sketchbooks as well as on his website, www.justbuzz.com for years (and currently).
