Welcome back, Mike !!!
In honor of Mike's return from his travels, I'm posting one of his pieces in the chiaroscuro style.
Chiaroscuro is a well known in other arts such as movies and photography. You can accomplish this yourself by playing with the contrast settings for your imaging software or screens. Mike worked in the chiaroscuro style for the Starspawn portfolio and Hot Stuf' 6 (both published by Sal Quartuccio). And (to some extent) in a rare inking job over Joe Staton's Dr. Fate origin in DC Special Series 10 (Secret Origins of Super-Heroes).
On this page, Mike made extensive use of ink and whiteout. In fact, it's basically a page covered in black ink. Then Mike drew with white paint or whiteout. WTF, Mike ?!?
This page comes from the Huntress 4 issue series, several years before the character became a pinup subject.
The Huntress was created by Joey Cavalieri and Joe Staton (based on the character created by Paul Levitz and Joe Staton).
