Description

This is the selected preliminary pose for the Superman commission. As indicated in Part 01, this was photo referenced from Superman cosplayer Danny Kelley. I have decided, however, to split the job in two variants. I will use the likeness of Christopher Reeve for the client, while I will do another version with Danny's to go to Mr. Kelley for giving his seal of approval of my work thus far. As you can see, I have chosen a photo with a worm's eye view. Sort of like that classic shot in Alex Ross and Mark Waid's Kingdom Come, I've chosen to have Superman standing in midair. The cape however, is a concern, as to whether I should indicate the presence of wind, or keep it hanging loose as is. Still thinking about that one. I'm going to Xerox and enlarge this for 11 x 17" dimensions and include a sky background. More as it develops.
