June is Gay Pride Month! The Romance of Northstar and Kyle: Flying over NYC, Page 16 from Astonishing X-men #49

This is the second page in a 4 page flying over NYC sequence where Northstar and Kyle examine the state of their relationship before the proposal and wedding.

The first two pages give us some insight into how Kyle feels in this human-superhuman relationship. Their main issue is how each fits into each other's world.

The page ends with Northstar saying that he needs Kyle.

Before my partner and I registered as domestic partners, we lived together for 2 years and spent much of that time just figuring out how we fit together in each other's world. We figured out that we complemented each other in so many ways that made us stronger to be together than apart. We became a team, no matter how contrasting our worlds were and how different we are.

Perkins' art and inking are so expressive here--i love the small panels of face close-ups and then the pull backs seeing the couple fly together through the New York skyline. If there were a soundtrack, you almost want to hear the background music from the flying scene in Superman: The Movie with Margot Kidder and Christopher Reeve.
